The major funder of cancer research in the US (NCI, a federal institute) is in danger of getting its budget cut for FY2024. NCI has desperately needed increases for years to fund critical cancer research, and cutting its budget would be devastating for the field. With Congress delaying the 2024 budget, the future of cancer research is in jeopardy, with some sides pushing for cuts.
