Please sign to choose to use your own vehicle around town
The Issue
Please sign this petition to demand that our Council ensures that the residents have the right to choose how they get around town whether it is walking, biking, transit, taxi, Uber or our private, personal or business automobile, etc., without restrictions as to the time of day or the day of the week, etc.
The Halton Hills Master Mobility Plan (MMP) on page 2 states to “encourage alternative forms of transportation such as walking, cycling, and public transit."
It goes on to say,
“Reduce dependency on passenger vehicles and increase public transit and active transportation.”
The MMP on page 10 goes on to say, “reduce vehicular traffic demand, wherever feasible, and encourage other sustainable modes of transportation such as walking, cycling, transit, carpooling and teleworking.”

Councillor Keene did something remarkable during the August 26, 2024 Council meeting; he took a stand against the MMP.
He disagreed with the statement, “reduce vehicular traffic demand.” He disagreed with having your private vehicle replaced with walking, biking and transit. Residents need those but we should not be pressured into to using them instead.
He said the MMP must be changed. To choose our personal private vehicle is our right. He stated firmly that he would not support the MMP report as it was.
At least 30 concerned citizens filled the room, and their applause resonated with appreciation and agreement with Keene's stance.
Not a single resident, who attended that meeting, spoke in favour of the report.
The residents must be heard. By collecting signatures on this petition we will tell Council that the approved MMP MUST respect our right to choose.

Lydia watched the video in disbelief as only 2 other Councilors supported Councillor Keene’s statement. Something had to be done.
In our Notice of Liability (NOL) to the Federal Minister of Justice, the Mayor, Councillors, the Chief Administrative Officer we are demanding that they comply fully with the Canadian Bill of Rights, including: Protection of mobility, privacy, property, and liberty.
Here in Halton Hills, Ontario and all across Canada we have the God given right to choose.
Please sign this petition.
