The Issue

In the 2023-2024 school year, Akron Public Schools closed Firestone Park Elementary permanently due to redistricting students.

Firestone Park Elementary was built during World War l in 1918, The school was a very big part of the Firestone Park community, so many students were taught at this school, even myself.

Sadly, as of right now, Firestone Park Elementary is currently abandoned and could possibly face demolition, it will make me sad to see this beautiful school get demolished, especially knowing the fact I went to this school.

I think this school should be saved for historic preservation and used for movies, tv shows, teaching students about what schools used to be like in 1918, etc.

This school also has its original fire alarm system still in it, which those alarms scared the heck out of me when I was a student at this school, I think they should keep the original fire alarm system in there as well also to show students what fire alarms were like before in schools like this.

This school was also one of the last old buildings operated by Akron Public Schools, which is another reason why I think this building should be preserved.

Another reason why this school should be preserved is because it's in great shape, the auditorium is in really nice shape and is a beautiful auditorium best one I've ever seen.

The cafeteria which is also the gym was also a very beautiful looking gym, which is another reason why this school should be preserved and not demolished.

Another reason why this school should be preserved was because I went here during 1st and 5th grade as well as knowing this school is too beautiful to be demolished.

It would mean a lot to me to see this beautiful school building be preserved for future generations to see and enjoy, we don't have many schools in Akron that are preserved.

We need a school like this one to be preserved to show the evolution of schools after schoolhouses, which will not only be good for me, but as well if the Akron community, Firestone Park community, Summit County community and everybody in the world.
