The new Redland Hospital multi-level car park opened on 6 April 2023.

The seven-level car park significantly increased car parking capacity for patients, visitors and staff with more than 1000 undercover parking spaces. 

The car park was constructed in the north-west corner of the campus—behind the existing hospital buildings—and has a dedicated access road from Weippin Street. 

Concessions are available for eligible patients and carers, and there will be a staff rate. But despite this being published on the Qld Government website the old public car parking has been privatized to make way for paid parking.

This has caused massive congestion on roads adjacent to the hospital on both Wellington St and Weippin St. With many residents, and some staff unable to pay for parking at the new facilities or old car park due to the increasing cost of living crisis. 

This petition calls on all local State MPs in the Redlands and State Health Minister (Hon. Shannon Fentiman) to restore public parking at Redlands hospital and to cease rorting the community in times of public distress. Public car parking at Redlands hospital is a necessity and public good needed not a quick buck to be made!
