Dear Friends,

We would like to thank and welcome all those who have endorsed this important petition since the last update.

We are making steady progress in gathering support for both this change.org petition (over 3,300 so far) and the Missed Call Campaign in India (over 37,000).

These numbers clearly indicate that an overwhelming number of supporters have not yet been able to access the change.org petition, either due to lack of access to the Internet or due to language barriers.

Please help us narrow the gap between the two initiatives by reaching out to your friends and families and have more people join the change.org campaign at: https://www.change.org/SayNoToManuStatue

If each one of our signatories can commit to bringing at least two more people to sign this petition, we will surely be able to reach our goal of 10,000 signatures prior to August 15th.

Speaking of Independence Day, Navsarjan Trust, the initiator of this campaign is organizing country-wide flag-hoisting ceremonies by women, with a special message on Manu Smriti and women. The Dalit Shakti Kendra, Gujarat, is manufacturing over a 1,000 national flags especially for this program: August 15th Flag Hoisting by women across India.

Navsarjan Trust has also written to 29 political parties of India on this topic to raise their awareness of this important initiative and asking them to take a stand. Here’s one such letter addressed to the BJP: Sample letter to all political parties.

As supporters of the initiative, I am sure you will agree with us that as we enter the 74th year of our independence and as our constitution faces the worst crisis in our history, the time to take a stand on ending caste discrimination and atrocities is now.

Thanking you,
Raju Rajagopal
