Please Make "Marvel Legends: Marvel Games" toys from LJN's 1995 "Spider-Man" video game
The Issue
"Spider-Man: The Animated Series" ran for five seasons from 1994 to 1998 on The Fox Kids Network and is considered by many to be one of the best, if not the best, TV series based on Spider-Man to date. In 1995, LJN released a video game based on "Spider-Man: The Animated Series". The video game, released for such game consoles as Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo, was a one-player game that had several of Spider-Man's greatest enemies escape from the Ravencroft prison and Spider-Man had to fight through five different stages, including a hidden bonus sewer level where Spider-Man fought such villains as Hydro-Man and the Lizard, to defeat such enemies as Doctor Octopus, the Shocker, the Owl, Hammerhead, the Rhino, Jack O'Lantern, Mysterio, the Green Goblin, the Vulture, the Beetle, the Chameleon, the Scorpion and Alistair Smythe. Gamers could also collect icons of the 4 logo from the Fantastic Four and individually call its members for different reasons in the game. Mister Fantastic left weapon and health icons, the Invisible Woman gave Spider-Man his web armor for temporary invincibility, the Human Torch let off a fiery blast that defeated every enemy in the air, and the Thing would stomp on the ground to defeat all standing enemies. For the final level of the game, Spider-Man had to go to Ravencroft prison to keep his arch-enemy Venom from destroying the recaptured villains, where Spider-Man had to re-fight several of the villains he defeated before facing off with Venom himself.
While the video game was met with mixed results, the game has developed a bit of a cult following in the years since and many gamers still like the "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" video game. Recently, Hasbro's "Marvel Legends" toyline has created a new sub-series called "Marvel Legends: Gamerverse", which has recently been re-named "Marvel Legends: Marvel Games". Hasbro has already released video game based action figures for characters from Capcom's "Marvel Super Heroes" video game series and a two-pack of the Punisher and Nick Fury from the 1993 "The Punisher" video arcade game by Capcom. Since Hasbro is making figures based on past Marvel Comics video games, why not make figures from the "Spider-Man" animated series game from LJN?
We, the fans, hope Hasbro will make some sold-separately or two-pack action figures based on LJN's "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" video game and make brand new action figures for Spider-Man, web armor Spider-Man, Venom, the Lizard, Doctor Octopus, Alistair Smythe, Jack O'Lantern, the Beetle, the Rhino, the Scorpion, Mysterio, the Shocker, the Chameleon, the Rhino, the Owl, and more.
