Pledge to Promise Support of Your Local Retailers During Covid-19 Store Closures

The Issue

THE #RETAILSTRONG PLEDGE, IS OUR COMMITMENT TO HELP THE INDEPENDENT AND SPECIALITY RETAIL INDUSTRY DURING THIS TIME OF WORLD HEALTH AND ECONOMIC CRISIS.

We are a group of people who love retail more than anything, and we want to do all we can to encourage the consumer community to do their part to keep the local and specialty retailers in business.

Our company (Retail for the People) was started with the mission of helping people in retail succeed. The store owners, the store managers and anyone else working in the “front lines” of the industry. Now, supporting them is even more important than it was when we started back in 2016.

We believe brick and mortar retail is an important and integral part of each neighborhood and community. We are here to join together as friends, industry colleagues, consumers and as a nation to do all we can to support our local independent and specialty retail businesses.

OUR OBJECTIVES:
#RetailStrong’s core objective is to:
Give retailers resources, tips, and tools via newsletters, our website, and social media to survive in this challenging time.

#RetailStrong’s second objective is to :
Encourage the public to financially and emotionally support the stores & brands in a safe and healthy way. 

OUR GOALS:
We are pursuing three goals through this pledge:
1) To share information as it relates to supporting and sustaining retail businesses during this time of crisis
2) To secure a pledge from the public and retail companies that we will support each other and we will still shop
3) To explore a long-term vision for the future of our industry that we all love for when the crisis comes to an end
 
We do not want this health crisis to force the smaller stores and brands we love to go from temporary to permanent store closures.

Over the last few days and weeks, Retail for the People has worked together on supporting the independent retail stores and brands through specialized coaching but no one could have planned for what has happened over the last few days and weeks. Throughout our coaching programs, we have focused on the issue of cash flow and profitability in retail, and right now this is more important than ever before.

We are a group of people who love retail more than anything, and we want to do all we can to encourage the consumer community to do their part to keep the local and specialty retailers in the business.
 

THE #RETAILSTRONG CONSUMER PLEDGE:

  • I will sign up for the store's email newsletters.
  • I will be following them on all social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Youtube, etc.) to stay connected.
  • I commit to still shop during the temporary store closures, and purchase gift cards or gift certificates digitally from the stores I love.
  • I commit to supporting my local stores and brands by shopping via their websites or social media platforms during required times of social distancing.
  • I will commit to not make returns for items I have purchased because every sale, every dollar matters right now.
  • I commit to share information and do all I can as an individual consumer to ensure my local retail community stays strong.
  • I commit to not be driven by fear during this time of the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • I will shop in brick and mortar stores again when it is safe and healthy to do so.
  • I commit to sharing this pledge with my friends and family.
  • I AFFIRM THAT:
    Every retail store and specialty business matters to the neighborhood and community it is in. Without independent retail, our communities and relationships would suffer.
  • MY PERSONAL COMMITMENT:
    By signing the #RetailStrong pledge, I am committing to doing all that I can as an individual to keep the retail stores and brands I love in business while they are “open for business” in a non-traditional way due to the COVID-19 crisis.
