The Issue

Somerset County Council have made the decision to remove access to the electricity supply from our street trading pitches in Taunton town centre. All of the business owners are of course more than willing to pay fairly for our electricity usage. Somerset County Council are however not giving us this option, they are seemingly unprepared to support us in finding a solution. We have all been as proactive as we can in order to save our small businesses, but for some of us alternative power sources are not a viable option.
We are therefore now asking for the people of Taunton and those who visit our county town to please show their support. We are very aware that many visitors to the town centre are proud to support independent businesses, love our products and appreciate the value we add to the town. If you value us and all we offer please sign this petition and share it as wide as you can. We are all small, independent businesses with families to support and our livelihoods are at stake due to this decision.

We simply ask that Somerset County Council continue to allow us to access electricity, at our expense to avoid disruption to trading and the possible collapse of our businesses.
Super Juice, The Taunton Dairy Parlour, The Hot Sausage co, Spud Shack, Silvans, Gourmet Poké, The Burrito bus & Seni’s Ethiopian kitchen are all affected.
We need this decision reversed and a solution offered promptly as the electricity supply is due to be cut off on 31st March 2025.

Thank you all for your time & support, we all very much appreciate it!
