Despite being employee of the month for 1.5 years straight, Tessa Maya was let go from her position on the eve of her 12th birthday (discrimination?) Since then, she’s been extra ornery, and on her worst days, she’s bed ridden with depression.  
The devastation reaches beyond Tessa Maya and has affected her former work place. Employees haven’t been the same, customers ask where she is, and not to be dramatic but the will to work is gone.
