This petition is requesting the City of Boston to stop granting variances to developers due to the adverse effects of overdevelopment and the harmful effects it is causing our neighborhoods.

We are not against development, however….

• Homes are being demolished instead of preserved, causing the loss of character to our neighborhoods.
  
  
• We oppose developments that destroy existing family homes; replacing them with much bigger structures, wider and taller than the footprint that once existed, and in which also require special permits.
  
  
• Multi-generational, working-class families are being displaced and priced out of East Boston.
  
  
• The number of East Boston students are decreasing due to families having no choice but to leave.
  
  
• Our community has been tainted by a new wave of investors who are only interested in profit and not building homes for the people.
  
  
• The ZBA has no regard to the opposition of our residents and seem to favor with well-known, wealthy developers.

The signature of this petition supports the residents of East Boston, who endeavor to remain a community that reflects the hopes and desires of East Boston families.
