Please help Russian House #1 stay open and continue our mission!
The Issue
Russian House#1, the restaurant, cultural, and Post-Non-Classical science center is at the stage of closing down.
I am asking to renew our lease for Russian House #1 under reasonable conditions (without increasing rent price).
My name is Tatyana Urusova and I’ve spent the last four years of my life putting my heart into this project. Thanks to Russian House#1, I realize how important it is to be open-minded, to give more to the world than take, and much more.
Russian House#1 is very unique place, during last 5 year it’s really became an informal space for dialogue and deep relationships between many people. This is very important project for me, for many American and Russian people, and I suppose for all humanity! Our mission is friendship between people and nations, serving everyone's highest needs. Our concept is based on free, voluntary, human-development-oriented activity. And the type of organization we have created is far beyond of mainstream way of business making.
Now, at the very moment when friendship and cooperation are the only way out of the global crisis, we are more than confident than ever in the importance of our mission. This is why we are asking for support from all people to get a renewal of our lease.
Our lease term ends in July but we have the right to renew for another five years, which we requested. The landlords, O’Bryan family, who received our extension request in December, demanded a higher rent to continue the lease. When the coronavirus hit we asked the landlords to reduce the rent during the crisis, but their reply letter said they would not renew the lease at all. We do not have any other place for our activity, so we will have to leave to Russia.
Please sign this petition if you want Russian House #1 to stay alive at the Russian river.
