The Issue

My son, Donovan Prather, was unjustly charged and convicted on November 16, 2021, by Judge James T. Kitchens in the Lowndes County Circuit Court, at the young age of 19. He was handed a 50-year prison sentence, with 35 years to serve day for day, drastically altering his future. Donovan, a straight-A student, was excited and proud to commence his scholarship-earned college journey. A devout Christian, never had any trouble in school or with law enforcement, and his life was cut short so maliciously. He was charged with aggravated assault with extreme manifest or indifference to life, armed robbery and kidnapping. The only thing that convicted him was the alleged victim that provided FALSE TESTIMONY! There was no other evidence tying or connecting my son to any crime, and the state proved no elements of any crime that they convicted him of. The person who provided this false testimony in order to convict an innocent person will never be punished for his crime!

Sadly, Donovan's story is not unique. Across our nation, under our supposedly "fair" justice system, countless innocent lives are being wronged by the people supposed to protect them. As The People, we are entitled to due process, fair trials, competent legal representation, the right to produce supporting witnesses, cross-examine those against us, receive unbiased judgement from judges and juries, and fight back against unethical prosecutions and illegal sentences.

Disturbingly, in 2020, The National Registry of Exonerations reported that false convictions had cost the accused more than 25,000 years of freedom since 1989. Furthermore, the Innocence Project reveals that, on average, exonerees spend 14 years in prison before they are released and found innocent. These statistics speak volumes on the prevalent need for system reform.

Fixing our flawed justice system might seem overwhelming, but change begins with us. Together, let's demand critical improvements and transparency in our courts, prioritizing fair and just treatment for all. Please, sign this petition today and help us stand up for people like Donovan and against corrupt judiciaries. Help me fight for the opportunity of Wrongful Convictions to be heavily investigated and not just pushed aside. We The People, are still the voice of this Country! We The People, can still make a change to save Innocent Lives, and restore the ones who have been silenced and thrown away by a corrupt, malicious Justice System. Our rights are being taken from us, our children are being taken from us, our voices are being taken from us, by a cruel barbaric system that was designed to protect us and keep us from these injustices. I'm fighting to Free my baby, my Innocent son! He's given me strength that's unbreakable. He inspires others to keep their faith and only look forward. He's so full of love, despite being in this nightmare for over 3 years, he smiles daily! He will never be the same young man who first went into that hell. He will never be the same. Taken before he had a chance to become a man, live his dreams, have a family, experience the little things! There was zero evidence to convict my baby! Only a boy who gave false testimony out of retaliation against my child! An investigator that only wanted to smear his name, resorting to blaten lies and falsified informations. Family members within the courthouse consisting of the court clerk, the foreman of the jury, falsified court records, with held evidence, false evidence, illegal sentencing, and sabotaging his appeals. It goes on and on. They suppressed his attorney, that had zero knowledge in criminal law, refused my son his right to produce his witnesses or defense, and jury tampering didn't help any either. Now they refuse him an attorney to file his Post Conviction Relief. Denying him further, a fair outcome! Please help us change this Injustice before it's to late! Thank you all and God Bless You!
