Please Help Fix Saltzman Road before there's an Accident! We now have a web site

The Issue

Dec 1st 2015 Update:

Dear Supporters/neighbors, Want to share we were able to get the County to the negotiating table ! How's that for an update ?

Now, we need you to do your part in donating (if you haven't already); Any donations made today, gets an additional 1% added by PayPal.

We really need to build the bridge to make the alignment right and about $40K to cover the Legal + Engineering related costs. Please understand that 100% Bethany Neighborhood Coalition (BNC) members are volunteer based. Your contribution goes directly to the costs associated with getting a viable solution for Saltzman Road.

We are counting on your support to get this thing wrapped up. We are very optimistic that we will have a solution from the County.

Request to Washington County Oregon to fix the dangerous road (Saltzman Road in the Bethany area of Beaverton/Portland border) where there are about 700 more houses being developed and there are no plans to widen it ! We already have had minor accidents.

This is a major accident waiting to happen ! Let us please save lives and injury. Our kids travel on school buses, we all travel by that road. So, we really need this problem addressed now!

Dear Saltzman Road users,

• Saltzman road is only 18 feet wide near Laidlaw, that too on a dangerous curve !

• Arbor homes (84 new homes) and Area 93 (600 new homes) are adding enormous amount of new homes in our locality adding to traffic congestion and livability impact ! (see map below)

• No new road connecting Laidlaw and Thompson is going to be built to accommodate this increased traffic from these homes, which means Saltzman will remain the primary road for access to freeway.

• In this precarious road accidents are bound to happen (it's not a question of "if", but "when"). Accidents ↑ = Property value ↓! • Planned realignment of Saltzman has not been funded due to Washington County’s lack of action and intent, despite of previously approved ordinance ORD 626A/ 2004 and net zero impact clause between land transfer agreements between county lines.

• Once the construction finishes, the chances of realigning (or even smoothening) Saltzman is practically zero, considering the new barriers and newly built homes (it's much easier to do when the area is vacant).

• Washington County had earlier requested feedback for affected neighborhood and that input was given. But the County acted without that counsel and authorized the development putting our lives and transport to a risk.

What we (Saltzman road commuters) want from Washington County ?

• County to immediately allocate funds for the planned and only viable Westerly route (see map below) that straightens Saltzman and schedule action date in a meaningful timeframe for the safety of ALL people living and invested in the locality.
