Please Grant Pardon for Chase Foster

Please Grant Pardon for Chase Foster
The Issue
It’s been a long time and I am at the point in my life where I feel as though I need to get my story out there. I have been through so much in my life caused by bad choices I made when I was younger much younger. I was 19 years old when this all started a child at mind. Now I’m a 43 year old man and a grandfather that has learned so very much that I look at things in a much different way. Today I say as a grown man that has so many regrets, but I am thankful for so much at this time.
August 10, 1998 I was 19 years old and that is the day I was incarcerated for crimes I’m currently serving time for. I was charged for crimes that I did do and crimes that I had absolutely nothing to do with. It’s been a long time now but I think I received three felony charges for robbery, use of a fire arm and abduction at first. As the weeks went on they kept bringing me charges that I had absolutely nothing to do with. By the time it was all said and done I ended up with 53 felony charges for robbery, use of a firearm and abduction. The prosecuting attorney continuously offered me plea agreements. The first one was for 12 years, the second was for 20 years and the last one was for 35 years. I didn’t accept any of them because at the time I didn’t think there was any way possible I could receive a sentence that I did which ended up being 133 years. There was a total of three of us that were incarcerated for these crimes and both of my codefendants have been home now for 14 years. One of the codefendant received 2 years and 10 months the other one received 8 years. When the witnesses were questioned; there was a discrepancy with race, height and with the times the robberies occurred. There were witnesses who described a 5’8” Asian man who had committed the crime. There were also witnesses who stated he look familiar but it could’ve been someone else who committed the crime. They were not sure who had committed this crime against them. Just to give you a little background I am a man who stands 6’3” tall and I am biracial; Native American, German and African-American. I have no Asian in my bloodline and I’m much taller then 5’8”. When I had my jury trial for the several robberies, seven firearm charges (which no one was shot or even hurt for that matter) and two abduction charges there was no way for me to plead guilty for the charges I did do and not guilty for the charges I did not do therefore I was either guilty of them all or not guilty. I pleaded not guilty because I was not going to plead guilty for the crimes that I did not do. Again I was 19 years old and I didn’t understand the legal process needless to say I was found guilty of a crime that I did do and the charges that I didn’t do. Never in 1 million years did I think it was possible for me to receive 133 years sentence. I truly understand that I had to do the sentence for what I did do however I do not believe that I should have to spend the rest of my life in prison. I am asking for a second chance as a 43 year old man, husband, father and grandfather. I am not that young boy I was 24 years ago. I have so many goals that I would like to accomplish in life and I would like to continue to make my family proud as they stand proudly with me today.
Sincerely,
Chase Foster & Family
