Please give Virginians the transportation options we need – keep ridesharing in our state!
The Issue
Please join Lyft passenger Careyann by signing her petition to keep Lyft in Virginia:
With all the positive, forward-thinking and innovative ideas coming from the Hampton Roads cities and other parts of Virginia, we know state and local leaders care about combating brain drain and keeping our area moving on a progressive and inspiring path. The signatures on this petition show the support for another new, fresh, safe and fun alternative that will help keep our area's amazing entrepreneurial and creative spirit alive!
Safe, reliable, affordable transportation that embraces technology is essential to the progress of Virginia. Please join me in embracing new mobile app-based transportation options and working to keep them in our state.
Despite public transit and other existing transportation services, people in Hampton Roads and many areas of our state still lack sufficient options for safe, friendly, affordable rides. Our elected leaders should embrace technology to improve mobility for residents and move Virginia forward.
In states and cities across the country with which we compete to attract talent and industries, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, Seattle, Boston, Atlanta, Dallas, and more, ridesharing apps like Lyft offer safe rides to millions of passengers by connecting background-checked local drivers with people seeking rides through trusted networks. Virginians deserve the same.
Ridesharing apps show us a picture of our driver and their car, track everything by GPS, and show us exactly when they will arrive. They even have a rating system and 24-hour customer service to provide accountability and make sure riders have an enjoyable experience. Ridesharing helps to combat drunk driving, reduces road congestion, makes a positive impact on the environment, and improves public safety for our community.
Please support innovation and welcome these apps to Virginia.
