Please give us our building back!

Please give us our building back!

The Issue

A direct word from Mother Dollison:

Dear Community Leaders,

The building currently housing Motivate Our Minds is a community resource, one that belongs to us all--not solely to one organization that uses it for only three hours a day, four days a week as has been the case for the last 3 years. Creative minds from Whitely, Ball State, and the community brainstormed its transformation from meat market to state of the art educational enrichment center. Creative hands, led by my husband Cornelius Dollison and which including skilled labor from all over the city, drew up the plans and built the facility.

This building at 2023 E. Highland Avenue belongs to us all, and we must band together to demand full control of its use. I am therefore requesting that all members of the community who have a deep seated desire to see this building used for its original purpose sign the petition in support of the upbuilding of our community.  I have secured the domain motivateourminds.net and will be working in conjunction with Real Black Excellence, a coalition of like minded community leaders.  This, is the real motivate our minds!  Please support me and our community.

Sincerely,

Cornelius and Mary Dollison

For the past several months, 81 year old elder of the Muncie community, Mother Mary Dollison has voiced unheeded concerns regarding the direction and operation of the current board of directors of Motivate Our Minds, a program which she co-founded nearly 40 years ago. She has therefore recently requested an immediate dissolution of said board, which was denied.

Because of this refusal, she has resigned from that board, retained the name Motivate Our Minds through the acquisition of motivateourminds.net; and has begun working fully with the community coalition Real Black Excellence. Real Black Excellence shares Mother Dollison’s original vision from God for the education of our children. She now has requested the current board to relinquish control of the facility, a facility which she was able to secure so many years ago. When this is accomplished, the entire community can be served by the original vision which God gave for Motivate Our Minds.

We are asking for your support in this worthy endeavor! Let us stand together with Mother Dollison and the real Motivate Our Minds by giving the full backing of our community to regain the building and see the vision which she received from God come to full fruition! This will allow for future jobs, deeper educational experiences, and full community involvement for the establishment of our families.
