Throughout the time I spent living in Australia, I had great pleasure for how things were with not going to school on the first Monday of June each year, since it's part of a public holiday known as Foundation Day, of which seems to only occur in Western Australia to the point of the others not being so lucky. Lately there has been word going around on changing the day, which I for the sake of how the first Monday of June has been throughout my whole life completely disagree with being done, so it should stay that time, especially with how similar it plays out to the first Monday of March being Labour Day each year. So if there's to be any public holidays exclusive to Western Australia at any other times of the year, they should be something new and entirely different as opposed to changing the date of an existing one.
