Petition to Bring Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte Back Home
A Call from the Heart of an OFW: Bring President Duterte Back to the Philippines
We, the concerned Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and citizens of the Philippines, humbly submit this petition to call for the immediate return of Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, who is currently detained at the International Criminal Court (ICC). As OFWs working abroad, we have seen the positive impact of President Duterte’s leadership and the transformation he brought to our beloved Philippines. We stand united in our belief that he deserves to return home, where he belongs—among his people.
President Duterte's time in office was a period of safety, progress, and unwavering commitment to the Filipino people. Under his leadership, we saw the Philippines experience a reduction in crime, an improvement in infrastructure, and stronger national security. Filipinos, both at home and abroad, were able to breathe a sigh of relief knowing that their country was moving toward a better future.
For many of us working abroad, it was President Duterte who made us feel proud again to be Filipino. His fierce fight against criminality and corruption inspired us all, especially those of us who left our homes to work in foreign lands, longing for a better life and a safer environment for our families. We knew that the policies he implemented would benefit our loved ones back home, from job creation to the fight for safer streets.
President Duterte’s love for the Filipino people was unwavering. He made it clear that his priority was always the welfare of the people, not personal gain. He served with integrity, fighting against corruption and pushing for reforms that benefited the poorest and most vulnerable members of our society. His government’s focus on healthcare, education, and infrastructure left a mark on the nation that many of us, from within the Philippines and beyond its borders, can still feel today.
As OFWs, we are no strangers to sacrifice. We work tirelessly abroad, sending money back home to support our families, but we are also deeply affected by the state of our country. When we left, we hoped to see a brighter, safer, and more prosperous Philippines. We are proud of the progress that President Duterte brought during his time in office. We now find it heartbreaking that he is being detained unjustly, far from the country he served with so much love and dedication.
We stand together as OFWs and Filipinos who want to see Former President Duterte return to his homeland. We believe that his actions, driven by love for the Filipino people, were in the service of the nation, and that he deserves the respect and freedom that come with such a legacy.
We call for justice, for fairness, and for the safe return of Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the Philippines. He belongs with us—his people—where his work, love, and sacrifices will never be forgotten.
We urge the Filipino government, the international community, and all Filipinos, wherever they may be, to support this cause. It is time to bring President Duterte back home.
