"Plead President Joe Biden to Release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui"

"Plead President Joe Biden to Release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui"
The Issue
I am writing this in the same spirit that supported Malala Yousafzai, to seek justice for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. Miss Siddiqui, a Pakistani neuroscientist, was convicted in 2010 on charges of attempted murder of US nationals, officers, and employees. She is currently serving an 86-year sentence at the Federal Medical Center, Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas. Despite the nature of her charges, there are inconsistencies in her case that raise questions about the fairness of her trial.
Research indicates that controversies surrounded Dr. Siddiqui's conviction, involving discrepancies in the forensic evidence and allegations of human rights abuses during her pre-trial detainment. These concerns have led international observers, such as Amnesty International, to question the legality of her sentencing (source: The Guardian).
Given these allegations, there's a significant call for a reconsideration of Dr. Siddiqui's case. As a nation that prizes justice, the United States should ensure that her accusations are deliberated in a fair and just court of law.
We thus respectfully urge President Biden to review the case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, to ensure that her conviction was just and fair, keeping in mind the acknowledgement and respect for human rights that this nation stands for. Your signature can support this call for justice, to ensure that every individual, regardless of where they come from or what they've been accused of, is treated with fairness, respect, and humanity. Sign this petition to urge President Joe Biden to reconsider Dr. Aafia Siddiqui's case.
