WHY BAN PLASTIC?

 

Plastic is everywhere around us. It has become a daily-use product. People are using it endlessly. But, we aren't realizing how much it affects the planet. Earth is a beautiful place. But we humans are destroying it by using single-use plastic bags, bottles, etc. People aren't realizing that using a single bag of plastic eventually takes the lives of many others. Earth has a vast population. If everyone continues to use plastic like this, then Earth will lose all its beauty, and not only people, but animals too will lose their lives.

WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION!!

HOW DRASTIC IS PLASTIC?

Plastic has not only impacted us humans but animals too. Plastic is a non-biodegradable item. It takes millions of years to decompose.  It is spreading like a disease that has no cure. We all must realize its harmful impact on our lives so we can avert it as soon as possible. When we through plastic bags, many animals end up eating them and dying.

 

 

Plastic pollutes our water. As plastic does not dissolve, it remains in the water thereby hampering its purity. This means we won’t be left with clean water in the coming years. Also, tonnes of plastic are dumped in the oceans each year. Many aquatic animals die because of this.

 

 

 

1. Furthermore, plastic pollutes our land as well. Dumping plastic on land ruins the fertility of the soil. Also, various insects gather around the dumped plastic causing many diseases

 

 

 

WHAT CAN WE DO? ALTERNATIVES FOR SINGLE-USE PLASTIC

1. Alternatives for plastic straws
   stainless steel straws, bamboo straws, pasta straws and rice straws(yes, they’re a thing!). For those that like the flexibility of plastic straws, there are other eco-friendly alternatives including paper straws, reusable silicone straws and compostable plant-based straws.
2. Plastic cotton buds
    Fluid ear washes, bamboo cotton buds, organic cotton makeup pads or a reusable silicon swab like The Last Swab. It comes in two designs - one for swabbing your ears and one for makeup. (And like my granny used to say - “Stick nothing in your ears smaller than your elbow!”).
3. Coffee cups and lids
   

   Reusable cups, porcelain mugs or have your coffee dining in.

   And if you are buying a takeaway coffee and can’t use your reusable cup, say no to the lid!

4. Plastic cutlery 
   Next time you order takeaway, make a special request to opt out and say no to disposables. Switch to reusable bamboo utensils, a travel cutlery set you can take wherever you go or bring your own from home! Chopsticks are also a great alternative to have in your bag if you’re planning on getting takeaway.
5. Plastic plates
   Re-usable plastic, glass or porcelain plates. Alternatively, palm leaf or bamboo pulp plates.

CONCLUSION

We should stay UNITED until the end of this war against plastic. If each of us takes small baby steps to get rid of plastic, it will change the world!

Plastic pollution is a cause of serious concern. It is increasing because of the negligence of humans. It is time we must take strict measures to fight it!!!
