Plant One Million Trees and Plants in LA County in Memory of the Devastating Fires

The Issue

As a Disabled American Veteran, I am driven to take action because of a deeply personal belief: By integrating Plants & Trees into our communities, we teach our children to grow with nature as a partner.

Yet, the sheer negligence of our city and county officials, seen best through allowing devastating forest fires in our expansive forests and an unsustainable level of air pollution, has provoked climate change and destroyed the home and habitat of countless wildlife species. We can no longer stand idle as Los Angeles, our home, becomes a victim of reckless local policies.

To begin healing our environment, I propose we plant one million trees and plants throughout Los Angeles County. This proposal is not only a symbol of remembrance for the loss we have suffered but moreover an active move towards atonement.

we need trees back in the forest to replace those lost in the Los Angeles Fires of January 2025.  We also need trees and plants in our community.  We need trees and plants in every school, hospital, office, restaurant, and other public buildings.  We need our children to understand that Oxygen is the most important thing on this planet.  Have them learn to care for plants in school projects.  Have offices raise productivity and make their offices better for reducing Worker Fatigue through the addition off more plants.  Transform the cold abrasive air in hospitals and public buildings into relaxing oasis of healing and change by adding more indoor plants.

Our city can again become a beacon of environmental responsibility as we take necessary strides to combat climate change, regenerate our local ecosystems, and restore the habitat of our wildlife. Furthermore, this initiative could help reduce air pollution, which is currently five times higher than the WHO's prescribed limit (source: American Lung Association).

Let's remember those we lost in the fires and ensure future generations learn the importance of coexisting with nature. Stand with me today in imploring our local officials to plant a million trees and plants throughout Los Angeles County. Kindly sign this petition to illustrate your support for this much-needed change.

We stand at a pivotal moment in our community’s history—a moment that calls upon our shared responsibility to protect our health, our children, and our environment. We respectfully urge you to join us in supporting Daddy IanXIlyana’s visionary plan to add one million trees and plants to Los Angeles County. This initiative is not just about beautifying our urban landscape—it is about reclaiming our air, our health, and our future.

Why This Initiative Matters

Los Angeles has long struggled with smog and air pollution, challenges that have direct and harmful impacts on our communities. Studies show that children, in particular, suffer from increased rates of respiratory distress and asthma due to prolonged exposure to polluted air. According to data from the American Lung Association, children in Los Angeles are significantly more likely to experience asthma and other respiratory issues compared to their counterparts in less polluted areas. The long-term health implications are profound, affecting not only quality of life but also future potential.

The Science Behind the Green Solution

Research into the benefits of indoor plants has provided compelling evidence of nature’s power to purify the air we breathe. The NASA Clean Air Study, for example, demonstrated that certain indoor plants can remove up to 87% of airborne toxins—such as benzene, formaldehyde, and trichloroethylene—within just 24 hours. While these findings were observed indoors, they underscore a broader truth: plants play a critical role in filtering pollutants and improving overall air quality. By extending this green cover outdoors, we can create natural “lungs” for our city, absorbing harmful pollutants and reducing smog levels.

A Call to Action

We cannot afford to wait for the next policy change or technological breakthrough. Every tree and plant planted is a step toward cleaner air, improved public health, and a brighter future for our children. Daddy IanXIlyana’s plan is a compassionate, evidence-based response to the environmental challenges we face. With one million new trees and plants, Los Angeles County can transform into a model of urban resilience—a city where nature and community work hand in hand.
