Planet Fitness says headgear, w/ the exception of HATS are a threat to their environment. WHAT?
The Issue
Planet Fitness promotes their institution as a “Judgement-Free Zone” yet contradicts their name with a specific policy that exclusively targets a certain group of people who, remind you, makes up the greater portion of their business; WOMEN!
Women are not allowed to wear any headgear on their heads to prevent hair frizz, protect their hairstyles, manage the amounts of sweat, or even religiously, during their workout at Planet Fitness in order to support their non threatening environmental approach, but MEN CAN WEAR HATS!
This issue as you read is going haywire all over the internet with upset consumers (90% women) who wishes to workout comfortably in a facility that supposedly doesn’t pass judgment on them, yet discriminates against the procedures many of us working class women have to take in order to sustain the styles, textures, and manageability of our hairs, which are wrapping it down during a sweaty workout session.
Their reasoning for this preposterous policy is to create a non threatening atmosphere as though women in head scarves, wraps, shpitzels, etc… are anymore threatening, if at all, than men in fitted caps and hoodies. They didn’t care to carefully research the depths of their policy against the greater percentage of their potential members before approving it, and apparently see no wrong doing with the conflicting message behind the endorsement of hats being the only headgear that portrays a non-threatening code. Oh, and they expect us to brush this under the rug and continue further business.
We are the custumers. We pay. We keep them in business. We need customer satisfaction. WE NEED CHANGE NOW!
We want to be allowed to workout with whatever we need to on our heads to protect our hair as men can work out in hats to protect absolutely nothing, but for mere fashion. And if not, then we don’t want to see anyone walking around with ANYTHING on their heads. We don’t accept discrimination. Our continuous business will not support DISCRIMINATION.
