Wow! We are up to over 3,600 signatures in just 3 days. I am amazed by the overwhelmingly positive response from the day I started this. We are definitely heading in the right direction. This is my first petition that I have ever started or even have been a part of, so I apologize if it seems a little unorthodox. I am just trying to get the attention of the governing bodies that there are A LOT of people that love the DuPage River just as much as I do. I downloaded the spreadsheet of the names that have signed the petition thus far. So many are from cities right along the 28.3 mile stretch of the river, but to my amazement, there are a few from areas far far away. How far away, you ask? How about S.M from India or B.A from Istanbul, Turkey, M.A. from Montreal, QB and L.I. from Mexico just to name a few. How did these people find it? I have no idea, but they obviously see the importance of keeping the river open to the public for individuals and businesses that operate of the river. Today the Naperville Sun (Who's owned by The Chicago Tribune) posted an article about the controversy of the DuPage river. Our petition was mentioned along with some direct quotes from some landowners and businesses that operate on the river. I highly suggest you take a look at it. I posted the link and the text on the FB group's page. We will continue to fight for the right to use the river just like it's always been. We also will continue to remind people that parts of the river have houses along the river and to respect these land owners property and do not exit your floating apparatus. We will also continue to remind people that the river is not a garbage can and to take your garbage with you and pick up any extra that you may come across.
Thank you for your support,
Ralph
