The Issue
Hey everyone,
It's PJ Parker and I need your help because CCA has gone back on its word and left me in a very difficult spot.
(TLDR: I was online Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 during Covid and CCA is denying my audits so I need support to show CCA for my Policy Petition )
I began CCA in the Fall 2020 semester, spending my entire first year of learning with the school online. I then had an amazing 3 more years in person, seeing the school transition from Oakland to SF and making so many friends and meeting so many mentors. At the end of Spring 2024 Semester, my sculpture degree was to be completed, I decided to extend my education at CCA by adding an additional major and an additional year to my studies. It is because I decided to support and pay for CCA for an additional year that I am now not being allowed to audit courses, even though I was affected by Covid at CCA about as much as you could be. It feels like a punishment to see my peers in my cohort that are able to continue staying engaged in the CCA community while I am not able to, even though we went through the same experience of covid. In my time at CCA I have grown deeply attached to the community and I believe by denying me audits the school is denying itself a stronger community. In CCA’s mission statement, it states CCA is founded on intellectual curiosity, risk-taking, collaboration, compassion, and integrity. I believe by denying me audits the school is not upholding its commitment to integrity for what was granted to other students in my same situation. I found who I was at CCA and I so badly want to be able to stay a part of our beautiful community. I love being on campus, in our shops, and being around my community. I am going to lose that this year if CCA continues to deny my audits. If you think that CCA denying me audits (despite me seeing the school fully through covid and supporting them an additional year) is wrong and if you believe that I deserve to be able to stay a part of the community through my audits, then please sign my petition.
