Pip wants to stay home

Pip wants to stay home
The Issue
Pip’s story began right in my own backyard in Clearwater, Florida. His egg was left behind, and when I reached out to sanctuaries for help, I was told it was not viable and to throw it away. I couldn’t do that. Instead, I incubated it myself—and against the odds, Pip hatched.
For the past four months, I’ve been raising Pip, a rare white peacock who has become a beloved part of our family. He isn’t just a bird—he’s gentle, affectionate, and full of personality. He cuddles, gives kisses, and even watches TV with us (his favorite movie is John Wick). He has been hand-raised since birth, making him deeply domesticated and unable to survive in the wild.
Now that Pip is growing, he has a safe, large backyard where hawks and predators are no longer a threat. But after a neighbor’s friend reported him, authorities told me I must either release Pip into the wild—where he will not survive—or risk him being put down. This is heartbreaking and unfair to a bird who only knows love, safety, and family.
Pip is happy, healthy, and thriving in his home. He belongs here—with the people who raised him and care for him. Please sign this petition to urge our local council to allow Pip to stay with his family where he is loved and protected.
Pip just wants to stay home.
