Sometimes they are expensive and you have to fork out for it all at the start of term/going to a new school.

They discourage self expression. People still wear what they want and find ways of marking themselves, still form cliques, and fashions still exist so it doesn't really make school life free from that. 

The choice of uniform isnt always considerate of some individuals or what young people will feel comfortable wearing as a whole.

 Uniforms dont always ensure equality among students.It could actually encourage rivalry between different schools, by marking students out like two differet teams. Having one in a more posh uniform could make students from one school appear 'stuck up' or superior, with members from another school rougher. 

The more controlling a school is when it comes to uniform, the more uncomfortable its atmosphere could potentially be. In conjunction with attempting to minimise self expression and distractions by enforcing a uniform, an element of fun and relaxation is also lost,which may not necessarily facillitate learning. People are more open when they are comfortable. 

The students that FOLLOW the dress code should not have to suffer for the students that DO NOT FOLLOW it. Plain and simple.
