Ft Desoto Campground in St Petersburg, Florida used to hold back 15% of campsites for folks to online book Friday at 7am. This allowed locals, many of them working families, easier access to one of the area’s premier campsites.

Pinellas County Parks has changed this policy and now you have to book 6-7 months in advance to reserve a campsite. Most families can not forecast so far in advance so most sites are taken by visiting retirees with more flexible schedules.   The reservation also requires immediate payment making it difficult to pay so far in advance for family fun. 

The undersigned here request the county to reinstate short notice reservations so that working families can also enjoy camping at Ft Desoto!  At minimum, we would like 15% of campsite to be held available for short notice reservations on Friday and Saturday nights so that working families can enjoy the campgrounds.
