We represent a diverse community where many dedicated professionals such as nurses, firefighters, police officers, and military personnel work long, irregular hours. The everyday heroes among us juggle demanding work schedules and personal obligations, yet make the time to support Pinehurst. One such obligation includes adhering to our current trash can ordinance. The ordinance mandates trash cans to be positioned curbside no earlier than 5 PM the day before service. This rule, though seemingly minor, adds additional stress to the already hectic lives of these hard-working individuals.

Therefore, we are urging the Village of Pinehurst City Council to reconsider this regulation. By allowing residents to place their trash cans out earlier on the day preceding service, we can alleviate unnecessary stress from our everyday heroes and fellow community members. Corresponding changes in other municipalities have shown a marked improvement in the community lifestyle without significantly impacting sanitation schedules or urban cleanliness. The adjustment is not simply a convenience issue; it's a reflection of our respect and support for those who work tirelessly to make Pinehurst the wonderful place it is.
