The Issue

As a domestic violence survivor, I have witnessed firsthand the failures of the Pinal County Judicial Systems and the Pinal County Sheriff's Office in protecting victims. Despite the laws in place to shield and support those affected by domestic violence, these systems continue to neglect their duties, leaving survivors vulnerable and without the justice they deserve.

Domestic violence is a pressing issue in Arizona, a state that ranks #4 in the nation for such incidents. This alarming statistic reflects a broader systemic problem that requires immediate attention and action. Our state’s existing legal framework, designed to protect victims, is being blatantly disregarded by those tasked with upholding it. Furthermore, the county violates important amendments including the 4th Amendment. The abuser was allowed to override an Order of Protection and hire people on Facebook while the deputies stood by, removing items from the house long after abandonment. The judge signed an order that stated, "by any means necessary" as written by the abuser. Under Arizona law: Protective orders (Order of Protection or Injunction Against Harassment) can bar the accused from entering the home, contacting the victim, or possessing firearms. Survivors may be granted exclusive possession of the residence, even if the abuser is a co-owner or co-tenant. Violating a protective order—including unauthorized entry—can result in arrest and additional charges. The Pinal County Sheriff's Office and Pinal County must be held accountable for their failures. We need mandatory oversight on how these cases are managed, including regular audits of their processes, ensuring compliance with state laws meant to protect those in danger. Furthermore, training programs should be instituted for law enforcement officers and judicial personnel, emphasizing sensitivity, thorough communication with each other, and legal obligations concerning domestic violence cases.

Statistics show that victims often do not come forward due to a lack of trust in these systems—a trust that is continually eroded each time their cases are mishandled. Rebuilding this trust necessitates transparency and accountability.

This petition is not just for me, but for every victim who has been let down by the same systems that vowed to protect them. We urge the Arizona City community and beyond to stand with us in demanding that the Pinal County Judicial Systems and Sheriff’s Office uphold the laws they swore to enforce. Demand action, demand change, and demand justice for domestic violence victims.

Sign this petition to compel our local authorities to take the necessary steps towards a safer, more just environment for survivors and their families. Together, we can hold them accountable and pave the way for a future where the law protects and serves its people as intended.   #stopdvinazc
