Petition to stop the inhumane eviction of Drew Berryhill

The Issue

This petition is being created in an effort to strongly request that the constables of Pima County grant a delay on the eviction of Drew Berryhill, owner of Drutopia, for as long as possible. We make this strong request for a myriad of reasons. To state only a few:

First, in many places throughout the U.S. a moratorium on evictions has been enforced as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The governor of Arizona has placed a moratorium on evictions until October 31, 2020, a date that is arguably too soon for many Arizonans, who still coping with adjusting to the unavoidable life changes that came with the outbreak of COVID-19. We repeat we ask that the eviction of Drew Berryhill be delayed for AS LONG AS POSSIBLE, that is, beyond October 31, 2020.

Secondly, Not only is Drew's current residence home to his new & thriving Black-Owned business, but he is also a single father, who relies on having a safe place for his children to call home. Imposing any sort of immediate eviction, would pose a direct threat to his sons' sense of security, and put the place they call home in insurmountable jeopardy.

Lastly, an eviction that grants the owner, possession of all property on the property, would be done so with the sole, and continuously professed intention to hijack, the very business that Drew has worked so hard to establish, and against all odds at that.

We greatly hope that you hear our call to delay the wrongful eviction of Drew Berryhill. Thank you.
