The Issue

I have started this petition because I believe it's time for Pierre Poilievre to step away from political life. For too long, we’ve watched him promote a vision of Canada that many of us simply do not recognize or support.

We, the undersigned, call upon Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, to step away from political life.

It is deeply concerning to hear a man who aspires to lead this nation repeatedly refer to Canada as “broken.” This is the same country that has paid his salary and supported his political career for over 20 years. If you no longer wish to see Canada represented by someone who continuously undermines its strengths and values, this petition is for you.

After two decades in public office, Mr. Poilievre has had ample opportunity to contribute to the fabric of this nation. However, it is clear to us and to many Canadians that his time has passed. Rather than uniting the country, his record reveals a pattern of contradictions, inflammatory rhetoric, and political opportunism that have only deepened national division.

Unwilling to retreat from the political stage, Poilievre has set his sights on a by-election in Battle River–Crowfoot, a rural Alberta riding known for its deep Conservative roots. The riding, vacant following the resignation of its long-serving MP, offers Poilievre a safer path back to Parliament, given its history of delivering landslide victories for Conservative candidates. Yet, this strategic move has sparked intense scrutiny. Critics argue that Poilievre’s decision to run in a riding far removed from his Ontario base reflects political opportunism and a reluctance to accept the judgment of Carleton’s voters. By seeking a “parachute” seat in a Conservative stronghold, he risks reinforcing perceptions of prioritizing personal ambition over the party’s need for renewal.

Poilievre’s record, however, remains a point of contention. While he has positioned himself as a champion of working-class Canadians, his policy stances, such as opposing certain social programs while advocating for tax cuts that disproportionately benefit higher earners, have drawn accusations of inconsistency. His inflammatory rhetoric, often targeting institutions like the media, the Bank of Canada, and political opponents, has further polarized voters. Rather than bridging divides, his leadership has frequently amplified tensions, alienating moderates within his own party and beyond.

As Poilievre campaigns for a return to Parliament, Canadians are left to weigh his legacy and his future. His pursuit of a by-election may offer a path to redemption, but it also raises critical questions: Can a leader whose approach has fueled division pivot to unite a fractured nation? Or does his electoral defeat signal that the public is ready to move beyond his brand of politics? For many, the answer is clear: after two decades, the time for Poilievre’s departure from the national stage has come.

Supporters, conversely, frame his by-election bid as a testament to his resilience and commitment to his “common-sense” agenda, which emphasizes lower taxes, reduced government spending, and individual liberties. They view Battle River–Crowfoot as a platform for Poilievre to reassert his leadership and rally the Conservative base ahead of future elections. However, even among allies, there is unease about whether his polarizing style can broaden the party’s appeal to win a national mandate.

We believe Canada deserves leadership rooted in integrity, empathy, and a forward looking vision. These are values that Mr. Poilievre no longer represents, if he ever truly did. His approach has become increasingly out of step with the needs and spirit of Canadians who value decency, inclusivity, and truth in public service.

For the good of the country and the health of its democratic future, we urge Mr. Poilievre to make room for new voices and step aside. It is time for renewal and time for leadership that builds rather than breaks, that unites rather than exploits.

This is not just about disagreement, it’s about accountability. We need leadership that builds, not one that divides. We need voices that unite us, not ones that tear down the very institutions they seek to govern.

If you share this belief, I ask you to sign this petition. Then share it with others. One signature can become two. Two can become ten. Ten can become a hundred, and with enough of us, real change is possible.

Let’s send a message: Canada deserves better. As Pierre Poilevre once said,

"Politics should not be a lifelong career, and elected officials should not be allowed to fix themselves in the halls of power of a nation."

It should be noted that  Individuals should always accountable for their words and actions as noted above.

I ask every Canadian who feels that in the end Canada would be better off as a nation and more secure in its future as a sovereign country if Pierre Poilievre stepped away from politics and diplomacy.

By adding your signature, you are standing up for the future of Canada as someone who believes in protecting the true interests of our country. Since July 1st 1867, Canada has been an independent and sovereign nation, and it is my belief, and hopefully yours, that it must remain that way, the True North strong and free. We stand on the shoulders of those who have fought for Canada and democracy throughout the world, and it is our responsibility to protect that legacy. Let’s stand together now, let your voice be heard, and help preserve Canada as a country and its sovereignty for future generations to come. Elbows up. "Do Unto Others" L.H.P...L8R SK8R
