After the petition demanding online exams at the VU, which has been signed 3300 times, we have decided to start this after the press conference on 18 December. Even bigger. Because it affects everyone. Every student.

The omicron variant is worrying. A hard lockdown has been announced. But it seems that exams will take place physically in the week before Christmas, whereby the 1.5m and group size for education do not apply according to the current rules.
And that is irresponsible.

That is why we, students studying in the Netherlands, want to ask the cabinet and the boards of educational institutions: find alternatives.

Below are the most important arguments:

1. The omicron variant is probably even more contagious and the vaccines are less effective against it (source).
2. Students of the VU indicated that they tested positive nevertheless went to physical work groups due to an attendance requirement. This pressure will be even greater during exams (source).
3. During Christmas people will come together: young and old, infected without symptoms and extremely vulnerable.

And there are so many more...

We don't want to spread the virus. We don't want to bring omicron to our loved ones as a Christmas present. We want safety.
