The wolfpack is dying out. Only 9 left out of almost 30. They are crucial to this pristine wilderness as they are the keystone species. Without them the moose population is spiraling out of control overgrazing & destroying the ecosystem. This untouched wilderness is also a great asset to the state as a wild tourist destination. Many scientific studies also are done on these wolves and they themselves are a large interest & draw to the island. Without some new wolves to bring in new gene pool they will disappear and so then will this wilderness.
