Under legislation passed this week by the Pennsylvania State House, all Pennsylvania voters would be required to show government-issued photo identification in every election.  This is a blatant attempt by the Republican Party to disenfranchise Blacks and Hispanics who routinely vote Democrat.  Republican leaders claim that "this will protect the integrity of our electoral system," but this patently absurd excuse flies in the face of actual fact.  Data from the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing shows that there have been only four cases of misrepresentation at Pennsylvania polls out of 19.4 million ballots cast since 2004.

   This is nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt by the Republican Party to prevent people from voting who would typically vote Democrat, and this legislation should be overturned.  Please add your name to this petition if you believe that the sacred American right to vote is nothing to be tampered with.
