The Issue
Amidst the ongoing global pandemic, recession, seven recent typhoons, and now typhoon Ulysses, it can be inferred that the Philippines is experiencing a state of shock that we all are yet to overcome. Given these setbacks, we, the students of St. Jude College are humbly asking to halt classes in order to provide comfort and help to those students who are currently experiencing difficulties with their physical and mental needs.
Though we understand that our education system are pursued despite COVID-19 emergence, we strongly feel that continuing classes without giving ample time to students who are in dire need of time to recover from the typhoon would only lead to students being anxious, disturbed and incapable of giving their 100% attention to online classes facilitated by our professors. Taking the current situation of our students as well as our professors resources and condition (electricity, internet connectivity and most of all, safety) into account, it is best to postpone online classes and prioritize their welfare above any other concern for it is our duty as Thaddeans to be compassionate and empathetic towards our community and not let anyone be left behind.
We, the students of PHINMA- St. Jude College, urge SJC to halt all synchronous and asynchronous classes, in consideration of those affected by the typhoon.
