PHILIPPINE TEACHERS, UNDERPAID!

The Issue

Doctors, Engineers, Accountants, where do they come from? Teachers. Despite being the source of these high-paying jobs, Public School Teachers only have an entry-level salary of ₱25,439, a meager amount compared to the ₱66,099 monthly salary of teachers in our neighboring country, Indonesia.

The results of a Pulse Asia survey conducted on June 24 - 27, 2022 with 1,200 responses shows that 50% of the respondents think public school teachers are underpaid, 37% believe they already have sufficient salary, and only 3% believe that they are overpaid. The remaining 10% are unsure of their view.

“We need to provide our teachers with all the necessary support because they are the ones molding our young students to become better, responsible and productive citizens who in turn would become the country’s future leaders,” quoted the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Philippines secretary general Raymond Basilio.
