Full implementation of the PHL Constitution, Article II, Section 26.
The Issue
THE FILIPINO PEOPLE. For the past decades, the PHILIPPINES have been ruled by the same families of politicians over and over again from fathers, mothers, children and their relatives. These families include but not limited to MARCOSes, ESTRADAs, ARROYOs, etc. to name a few. What did these political families done to improve the lives of the Filipino people over the past decades? The ANSWER is: the FILIPINO people are still POOR.
THE CONSTITUTION. Enshrined in the 1987 Philippine Constitution, Article II, Section 26. “The State shall guarantee equal access to opportunities for public service and prohibit political dynasties as may be defined by law” According to Wikipedia, “a dynasty is a sequence of rulers considered members of the same family” Where is the guarantee of equal access to opportunities for public service? What happened to other Filipino people who deserve and qualified for a public service? What happened to the requirement of the Constitution that prohibit political dynasties? ALL elected and government officials are swore in to “uphold and defend” the Constitution, but these Political Dynasties are doing the opposite by “usurping and disregarding” the Constitution in order to continue their grip of power and use it for their own benefits and their families.
GREED AND POWER. There's no enabling law to implement the provision of the Constitution at present against political dynasties. Philippine Congress will never pass a law on this provision of the Constitution for obvious reason that they themselves are the political dynasties. It is a moral obligation that eventhough there is no enabling law on Political Dynasties that every Filipno citizen must abide by the constitutional mandate of Article 2, Section 26: The State shall guarantee EQUAL ACCESS to opportunities for public service and PROHIBIT political dynasties.
DEVASTATING EFFECTS OF THE POLITICAL DYNASTIES: These existing political families have become powerful and influential that nobody can challenge them in any elections, as they have all the resources and power. Everywhere in the country, the political dynasties are so rampant they have the full control of all or most of the government offices from city, provincial to national. Where can you find a country in the world like the PHILIPPINES where elective positions from mayor, governor, congressman and senator are held at the same time by a single family and relatives. The worst and sad things about Political Dynasties they are all happening all over the country; every province or state is controlled by a single family and relatives.
OUR PETITION. This is totally UNDEMOCRATIC and a BIG INSULT to the intelligence of all democratic loving people of the FREE WORLD. The Philippine Constitution mandate for EQUAL ACCESS to public service and PROHIBITING political dynasties must be IMPLEMENTED by any means MEANS with NO EXCEPTIONS!
