Mayor Kenney, stop all current and future projects by developer Gagandeep Lakhmna
The Issue
We the people of Philadelphia, united in concern for our fellow and future Philadelphians, call upon Mayor Kenney to stop any and all developments by Gagandeep Lakhmna in our city.
For more than a decade, Gagandeep Lakhmna has wrought havoc on our city, racking up a lengthy list of failed projects, court cases, unpaid contractors, unsafe and unpermitted construction and demolition, deceptive marketing and even illegal evictions.
And yet, despite being sued by the City and even held in contempt of court, he continues to build controversial large projects. As we speak his construction company Greenpointe is planning a hulking apartment tower in our neighborhood of small rowhomes. The project has been decried by the community and even called “disgusting” and “ridiculous” by city planning professionals. Worse still, the site housed a historic hosiery mill ripe for adaptive reuse, which instead is being haphazardly demolished, leading to multiple safety violations and even debris falling into active roadways.
This trail of destruction exposes a failure by the city to hold rogue developers accountable.
We demand that this developer’s activities be immediately halted while the city comprehensively investigates his past actions and considers broader measures to hold irresponsible developers accountable and protect residents negatively affected by these bad practices.
Our City deserves better than developers like Gagandeep Lakhmna.
