Did you know this apartment building at 4649 Umbria St is known as The Levering-Smick-Arbuckle House, and it dates back to the late 1700s? It was the first building in the neighborhood, on which all the rest were modeled. It has a rich history, that will be lost if it gets demolished to make room for a 30-unit apartment building covering the site and parking area behind (the replacement plan would leave only 9 parking spaces for all 30 units). Not only will it cause more traffic and less parking for residents, they will also be taking away one of the last historic buildings in Manayunk. It's been nominated for inclusion on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places. If approved, this historic treasure cannot be demolished.
