Mattaponi Elementary is a top-notch school with exceptional faculty and students and it consistently outperforms nearby schools on state-mandated assessments. Out of the 138 elementary schools in Prince George's County, Mattaponi was recently ranked in the top 10 (cruvita.com) and the three schools that are being considered for Mattaponi students to attend are ranked significantly lower. Mattaponi also houses one of the two full-day TAG programs in the southern end of the county and it is an EGATE Award winning program. The closure of Mattaponi elementary would severely diminish the quality of education and the standard of excellence that has been set. 

Mattaponi is a true example of what elementary education in PGCPS should look like for all students and we invite our CEO, Dr. Maxwell, and every School Board Member to visit and see the amazing teaching and learning that happens daily. These students are excelling, they are the future of Prince George's County, and they deserve the best education possible.
