DoorDashing live goldfish creates serious welfare concerns. DoorDash drivers are not specially trained in the transport and handling of animals. Once a live fish is placed in a vehicle, many variables can affect its health, including temperature changes, rough handling, delays, and transport stress. These factors can severely compromise their well-being.

This is about preventing unnecessary suffering. Many of these goldfish are sold as feeder fish and are already treated as disposable. Offering them through on-demand delivery adds another layer of harm to animals whose welfare is already too often overlooked.

PetSmart should stop offering live goldfish through DoorDash.
