PETS AT HOME: REMOVE PET CORRECTORS AND ANTI BARK COLLARS FROM YOUR SHELVES!

PETS AT HOME: REMOVE PET CORRECTORS AND ANTI BARK COLLARS FROM YOUR SHELVES!
The Issue
Anti bark collars and pet corrector sprays have commonly been used for years with the aim of stopping a dog from barking, however, these sorts of 'training tools' have proven to be ineffective and counter productive in the long run, causing more behavioral and health problems than what its worth. Spraying a dog in the face for example when he barks doesn't teach him to stop barking. Some may say 'I used it and it worked!' however, by using these 'tools' you are actually suppressing the emotion that makes the dog want to bark. With long term use, unwanted behaviours will manifest in other ways, for example, these sprays have the potential to scare a dog, causing unnecessary anxieties leading to aggression. As a positive modern dog trainer, I am passionate about using the most up to date methods of dog training based on scientific research and pet correctors/anti bark collars have no place in dog training in 2015.
'Pets at Home is the United Kingdom's largest pet supplies retailer, with more than 370 stores and 6,000 employees.' Pets at home is probably one of the most popular pet stores in Britain, with 'Pets Before Profit' being one mission statement which allow customers peace of mind when asking for advice when buying pets and products. Pets At Home have a massive influence on what people buy for their pets - they have well trained staff who are able to help in all areas of the business. With this in mind, customers believe that they are doing the right thing for their dog by buying anti bark 'tools' without knowing the downsides.
Understandably, Pets At Home want to keep the best selling products on their shelves however 'best selling' doesn't necessarily mean 'best for your dog'. OR ANY DOG.
Bite prevention is one of the main concerns for us good positive dog trainers so we would greatly appreciate it if this leading pet store would work with us with this mission.
Pets At Home: we want to move forward with spreading the word of positive dog training. Don't you?
