Petition: Urgent Action on Overflowing Bins and Flytipping at Berkeley Court Business Park

We, the undersigned businesses, employees, local residents and visitors of Berkeley Court Business Park, are asking Bristol City Council to take urgent action to address the ongoing waste and flytipping problem on the path outside the site.

Over recent months, waste has accumulated across the path adjacent to Berkeley Court, arising from a combination of overflowing commercial bins belonging to businesses on Lawrence Hill and council-provided wheelie bins serving the flats above. This has resulted in:

• Rubbish and flytipped waste strewn across a shared public path, creating an unsightly and unwelcoming environment for staff, clients, and visitors.

• A significant increase in rat activity. Despite over three years working on this site with no prior rodent sightings, we now see dozens of rats daily since the waste began accumulating.

We are requesting that the council:

1. Arrange for the immediate clearance of the existing waste and flytipped material currently blocking the path.
2. Investigate and address the underlying cause, working with the relevant landlords and commercial tenants on Lawrence Hill to ensure adequate bin capacity and collection frequency for both commercial and residential waste streams.
3. Put in place ongoing monitoring to prevent recurrence, including enforcement action against flytipping where appropriate.

This is a matter of public health, hygiene, and the local business environment. We would appreciate a response outlining the steps the council intends to take and a timeframe for the initial clean-up.
