Petition to USA Badminton: Call for Transparency and Accountability in the Junior Ranking

The Issue

We,  USA Badminton (USAB) community, call on the Board of Directors (BOD) to immediately address the lack of transparency and accountability surrounding the junior ranking system. The junior ranking is a service that should be responsibly provided by USAB. Despite repeated questions and requests from the community, the BOD has not provided answers, leaving critical issues unresolved and the community in the dark.

Since 2021, the junior badminton community has suffered from an inefficient ranking system. Despite numerous concerns raised by members, USAB has failed to provide clear answers about the vendor responsible for handling the junior ranking process, the details of the contract, or the criteria for their hiring. This lack of transparency has caused frustration and mistrust among players, parents, coaches, and volunteers.

The inefficiencies in the ranking system are not only costly but detrimental to the growth of the sport and the morale of our players. Resources have been spent on different vendors with little to no explanation or measurable improvement. Meanwhile, the voices of the junior badminton community—the future of our sport—have been ignored.

We urge the USAB Board of Directors to:

1. Publicly disclose the details of the contract with the vendor managing the junior ranking system, including costs, terms, and performance benchmarks.
2. Explain the hiring process and decision-making criteria for selecting this vendor.
3. Commit to immediate steps for improving the efficiency and transparency of the junior ranking system.
4. Establish a formal mechanism to include feedback from the junior community in decisions affecting rankings and other critical issues.
This petition is not about targeting individuals but about holding USAB accountable for ensuring fairness, transparency, and efficiency in a system that directly impacts our players and community.

By signing this petition, we ask that USAB takes action to restore trust and prioritize the needs of the junior community.

Our questions and concerns about the ranking system remain unanswered, and many critical issues still need to be clarified. Without transparency and resolution, we cannot move forward as a united community.
