This new "feature" greatly benefits people who've used Discord for a longer period of time. This means we no longer are allowed to change our usernames whenever we want, and we aren't even going to be allowed to use the usernames we've coined if someone who's used discord longer grabs it first. It's an unfair system if someone new comes and finds out that the username that they use for their community (or even people who already are on discord) was taken, and they can't even use caps to get a similar name, they have to change it. Even if it's one letter off, if their communities outside of Discord try to look for their name, and it's different, how's that going to effectively "help username remembrance"? If someone has their username as a part of their merch or brand, and they cannot use it for their communities through Discord, what are they going to do? Choose a variant that their fans may not recognize?
