Petition To Retain Mrs. Simone Marrotte at George Syme Community School GR 1/2
The Issue
Petition to Retain Mrs. Simone Filiac-Marrotte at George Syme Community School.
To the (Toronto District School Board / Superintendent/ School Trustee / Principal Mrs Karen Naik).
We, the undersigned parents and guardians of students at George Syme Community School, are writing to formally express our deep concern and disappointment regarding the decision to transfer Mrs. Simone Filiac-Marrotte from her current class to another school.
Mrs. Simone Filiac-Marrotte is not only a valued teacher but also a vital member of our school community. In her time here, she has built meaningful relationships with her students and their families. Her dedication, compassion, and skill in the classroom have fostered an environment where young learners feel safe, supported, and motivated to grow. This is particularly critical in primary school, where early trust and consistency with a teacher play a pivotal role in children’s development.
The sudden decision to remove Mrs. Simone Filiac-Marrotte has left parents and students unsettled. Our children have already formed a strong bond with her, and the abrupt disruption of this relationship feels unfair to them. It is disheartening that such a major change is being made without transparency or communication. We, as parents, were not given notice or explanation, and we find this lack of openness from the school board and administration troubling.
Furthermore, Mrs. Simone Filiac-Marrotte holds a permanent position and has firmly established herself within our school. Transferring her at this time disregards the stability that students need and undermines the continuity of their education. We believe that both Mrs. Simone Filiac-Marrotte and her students deserve better consideration in this matter.
We respectfully request that the decision be reconsidered, and that Mrs. Simone Filiac-Marrotte remain in her current role at George Syme Community School. Doing so would uphold the values of transparency, fairness, and commitment to student well-being that our community expects from its educational leadership.
Sincerely,
The Parents, Guardians, and Community Members of George Syme Community School.
