Petition to Remove the Progress Flag from Hollenbeck Middle School and All FHSD Buildings

The Issue

Petition to Remove the Progress Flag from Hollenbeck Middle School and All FHSD Buildings

We, the undersigned, call upon the Francis Howell School District (FHSD) to adhere to its own Policy 6242, titled “Religious or Controversial Issue.” This policy clearly states that the district must remain neutral on religious and controversial issues to ensure an inclusive and unbiased educational environment for all students.

Currently, the display of the Progress Flag at Hollenbeck Middle School and other FHSD buildings contradicts this policy. We believe that the presence of this flag represents a controversial issue that may not align with the diverse beliefs and values of all students and their families.

By removing the Progress Flag, FHSD can demonstrate its commitment to upholding Policy 6242 and fostering a respectful and neutral learning environment. We urge the district to take immediate action to ensure that all school buildings reflect this policy.
