Subject: Demand for the Resignation of Jennifer Callahan

We, the undersigned, are writing to express our profound concern and dissatisfaction with the recent actions taken by Jennifer Callahan, who has overstepped her authority as a town official. Her recent decisions have had a significant and detrimental impact on our community.

Specifically, Jennifer Callahan has:

Unjustifiably Pressured Schools to Suspend Fall Sports: By forcing schools to halt fall sports, she has not only disrupted important activities for students but has also affected their physical and mental well-being. This decision was made without proper consultation or consideration of the broader impact on our children and their education.

Implemented an Early Town Shutdown: The decision to shut down the town of Oxford at 6 p.m. in response to the threat of Eastern equine encephalitis is an overreaction. This premature action has severely affected local businesses, disrupted residents’ lives, and led to unnecessary anxiety within our community.

Demonstrated a Lack of Proportionality and Authority: Jennifer Callahan’s actions reflect a concerning lack of proportionality in addressing the health threat. Such measures should be based on balanced, expert advice and community input rather than unilateral decisions that disproportionately impact our daily lives.

We believe that Jennifer Callahan’s decisions have not only overstepped her authority but also failed to appropriately address the situation at hand. The undue stress and disruption caused to our community necessitate a re-evaluation of her role and actions.

Therefore, we demand the immediate resignation of Jennifer Callahan from her position. It is crucial for our town to have leadership that makes decisions based on rational assessments, proper consultation, and the best interests of our community.

Additionally: Her unethical behavior over the years, resulting in numerous department head resignations, harms our community and the day to day operations. Her body language and clear contempt for the people of the town during meetings should not be tolerated.
