We, the undersigned residents of Melvindale, hereby petition for the removal of Council Member Joe Jackson from the Melvindale City Council under CHAPTER 13 - REMOVAL OF OFFICIALS, Section 1. - [Cause for Removal:] (g) Willful misconduct to the injury of the public service.
Examples of Misconduct Include
Aggressive Conduct Toward the Public:
Numerous acts of aggression toward residents during public council meetings.
At least three members publicly expressed displeasure with his actions at the council meeting on 3/19/25.
Pending Litigation:
State of Michigan Case No. 2024-24OS7546SM-SM: Allegations of disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and assault and battery while acting in his official capacity.
Federal Case No. 2:24-cv-HON: Filed by city employee Cecilia Dally, citing loss of income, fringe benefits, and retirement, as well as severe mental anguish, distress, embarrassment, humiliation, pain and suffering, reputational damage, and other damages including attorney fees.
Unprofessional Conduct on Social Media:
Ongoing belittlement of residents through social media platforms.
Numerous public complaints about his behavior toward citizens.
Financial Burden on the City:
Accumulation of unreasonable and unnecessary expenses for the city due to litigation directly tied to his actions.
Dissemination of False Information:
