To whom it may concern,

I am writing on behalf of parents, staff, and local residents of the Long Ridings School community to formally submit a petition requesting the reinstatement of a School Crossing Patrol (Lollipop Patrol) at Alexander Lane, serving pupils attending Long Ridings School AND Shenfield school.

It has come to our attention that there has not been a school crossing patrol at this location for many years. This absence has caused growing concern among parents, staff, and residents regarding the safety of children crossing Alexander Lane on their way to and from school. The area experiences a steady flow of traffic during peak school hours, and without an official patrol presence, the risk of accidents or near misses is significantly increased.

Given that Essex County Council is responsible for managing and providing school crossing patrol services—including the assessment of new locations, recruitment and training of officers, and overall coordination of the scheme—we respectfully urge the Council to prioritise an assessment and appointment of a patrol officer at this site as a matter of urgency.

We believe that reinstating a crossing patrol will greatly enhance child safety, reassure parents and the school community, and contribute positively to local road safety standards.

Please find attached the signed petition, which demonstrates the strong support of the local community for this request. We kindly ask that this matter be reviewed at the earliest opportunity and that we be informed of any steps taken or timelines for consideration.
